Sailing Experience:

25- ft MacGregor  Westriver, Md

Believe it or not, got my start in sailing on a 17-ft O'day "cubby-cabin" sailboat, on Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City, then a bit more experience at a couple of Regattas on Lake Eufaula, Tulsa, Oklahoma (oh yeah, a reservoir with 600 miles of shoreline) !!

Came back east, got involved in the Westriver Methodist Retreat Ministries (Churchton, MD, near Deale), where I taught sailing & safe-boating skills to 13-17 year-olds out of port on the West River. From Beginning to Intermediate sailing on 24-ft Rainbows -to- "week-long" Sailing Trips on cabin boats up to 36-ft, explored and exposed the youth to ports such as Baltimore, Annapolis, Rock Hall, Kent Narrows, St. Michaels, the Choptank & more.

Now with 33+ years of Chesapeake Bay experience, as I also volunteered teaching the Dept. of Natural Resources " Safe-Boating" course for Power Boaters, I'm taking a more leisurely pace -- from my humble first ownership, an 11-ft Sunfish that I'd take out on Columbia MD lakes, to a Classic 1960 28-ft Owens powerboat with twin 450-chevy engines that I owned for about 5-years, re-storing got to be a bit much so I donated it to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum & Sea Scouts. I remain the proud "Pappy" da- sailor-man on my 25-ft MacGregor Sailboat -- Godspeed : "Time Well Spent" !!
